Today, it was announced that Strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her belt against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211 this upcoming May. Jerdzejczyk, who will have held her belt for over 2 years by the time UFC 211 rolls around, has only found herself in any serious trouble once or twice. In the Gahdela fight, she was taken down twice in the opening round, but outlasted Gahdela and then cruised to a unanimous decision victory. In the Karolina Kowalkiewicz fight, it looked like she may have gotten rocked once, but she still outlanded her opponent nearly 3:1. She is without a doubt a dominant champion, and her highlights speak for themselves.
Her opponent is no slouch either. Jessica Andrade was a former Bantamweight fighter who, despite her size disadvantage, racked up 4 wins, including one over contender Raquel Pennington. She decided she was too small for the division, so she dropped down to 115 and demolished Jessica Penne, followed by a dismantling of Joanne Calderwood. Then, earlier this month, she went to war with Angela Hill and showed that she has cardio. She is a very powerful fighter that has the capability to knock out her opponents with on punch. That paired with dangerous Jiu Jitsu, and it makes for a very interesting matchup against Joanna. This is going to be a good one.
We will be sure to further cover both this and the Heavyweight main event of UFC 211 so keep checking back!
