135 is the New 155
Picture Credit: MMAJunkie By: Bryce When I first began watching the UFC, THE division was lightweight. They had a row of killers that no other division. The champion was Anthony Pettis, with the likes of RDA, Cowboy Cerrone, Khabib, Benson Henderson, Gilbert Melendez.
The list goes on. I remember looking at the rankings one time and looking in awe because it was by far the most stacked division in the company. Since then, a lot has changed. RDA and Cerrone have changed divisions, and other talent has moved on or have fallen off.
The new Lightweight is Bantamweight. They have the second youngest champion in the company with Cody Garbrandt.
Their top 10 includes 2 former champions, one other that has had 2 title fights, and a lot of other contenders. Prospects like Thomas Almeida and Aljamain Sterling make the division more exciting and promising for the future.
There is a lot to like in this division and look for it to continue to develop to further their argument as the toughest division in the UFC.
