PREVIEW: "Jacaré" Souza vs Chris Weidman

It is FIGHT WEEK for UFC 230 where the UFC once again takes over MSG for a great night of fights. In the co-main slot, “The All American” Chris Weidman returns to the octagon to vie for a shot again at his once lost title, this time against Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza.
Weidman has been in horrendous form since beating Vitor Belfort in May of 2015. Since then, he lost three in a row before finally getting back in the win column last July over Kelvin Gastelum, the man likely to get the next shot. One can see the frustration in Weidman, who has been calling for a title shot since his win over Gastelum. Since that bout last July, he has been injured multiple times, seemingly unable to catch a break. But when he is at his best, he is one of the very best this division has to offer. He is a superb wrestler that had shown to be more than game on the feet as well. When he squares off against “Jacaré,” look for him to put all of those injuries aside and try to rip off a limb or a head.
Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza is a freak. No other way to look at it. Everyone talks about Yoel Romero and they are justified, because he is the freak of freaks, but you cannot look past “Jacaré,” plus he has an all time good nickname, with Jacaré meaning alligator. He’s a competent striker, and likely the best grappler in the Middleweight division, seeing as he is a multiple time world-champion BJJ practitioner. Pair those things together with a freakish athletic frame even at 38 years old, and you can see why Souza is one of the best Middlweights in the UFC and has been for his entire tenure in the promotion. He is also likely one win, two tops away from his own title shot, and if he succeeds in getting a shot, he will be able to avenge one of his two most recent losses, those being Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum.
No matter which way you sway (my heart lies with the Brazilian Alligator), there is no doubt that this has the makings of FOTN and you have got to see this one. LIke this? Let us know!
