Is It Time for Cowboy vs. Conor?

Since an Instagram post made by Donald Cerrone in essence calling out Conor McGregor, media and fans alike have been wondering if it is a good time to book Cowboy vs Conor. Long story short: yes, a thousand times yes.
This is the aforementioned IG post from Cowboy, the one that has people buzzing. It is simple, straight to the point, and for good reason has people buzzing. Conor McGregor is one of the most polarizing and popular names in MMA history. He is the king of the PPV buy rate, the Champ-Champ (which you can support here), and one of the best talkers we have ever had in the sport. Cowboy, on the other hand, is a down-to-earth, tell-you-like-it-is badass who is one of the premier action fighters in MMA, along with being a fan favorite both in and out of the octagon, as his Instagram is littered with various scuba diving, off-roading shenanigans that is the life of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
More than just the personalities behind it, the fight actually makes sense. Cerrone is coming back to 155, where he was a perennial contender. He’s coming off of a win against Mike Perry, an undersized Welterweight. His 170 experiment had some highs, but a lot of lows as well. Conor, however, is coming off of a (alleged) loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov and now needs to reestablish himself as a key figure in the Lightweight division, a similar position Cerrone finds himself in. They are both predominantly stand-up fighters and the trash talk leading up to it will be sure to be a blast. Also, the PPV sells itself: the UFC’s winningest fighter in Cerrone takes on the Champ-Champ. No belt. Just 5 rounds of war. This just makes sense at this point, so BOOK IT.
