Buju’s Bad Bets: UFC 236
I try and pick my spots on when to do these. It’s been well publicized that I’m a terrible gambler, but by god it’s fun and MMA is the best sport in the world to gamble on. We’ve got some really fun fights with some really close odds on Saturday and the damn dogs are BARKING... so I decided to give you good folks a quick rundown of what I’ll have on Saturday.
1.5 unit Parlay: Max Holloway -210 + Israel Adesanya -170 (+135)
Parlays are dumb. You shouldn’t do them. You’re relying on too much to happen and they never win... except when they do. You have the current 145 lb champ in Max carrying a striking advantage against a striker, and the hottest hand in the game right now in Israel Adesanya in separate title fights to close out the night. With those odds, it’s hard to pass on throwing them together. For more on these two fights, check out Bryce’s CO-MAIN and MAIN EVENT previews.
1 unit: Khalil Rountree +170
In an underrated middle fight on this main card, you have two intriguing guys taking each other on at 205. While Eryk Anders may be the -200 favorite, he’s coming off of 2 losses (with the last one being a bad decision loss to Elias Theodorou in which he was also favored) and not that far removed from an embarrassing loss to Lyoto Machida. While Rountree also dropped his last one, it was a lightning quick KO loss to the hottest guy in MMA not named Israel Adesanya in Johnny Walker. I think Rountree has the skill set to pull of a nice little upset here and make us some change.
