Adesanya vs Silva is the Right Fight

It was recently announced by a number of sources that Anderson Silva will return to the Octagon to face Middleweight prospect/contender Israel Adesanya. “The Spider” has not fought in nearly two years, and will be days shy of a year layoff at UFC 234 in February. “The Last Stylebender,” however, has been extremely active, fighting 4 times in 2018, winning all of them with 2 finishes, most recently over Derek Brunson. Many critics are saying this is a dangerous fight for an aging Silva and criticize the UFC and Dana White for condemning Chuck Liddell’s fight while announcing this one in the same breath. HOWEVER, this is truly the fight to make for both parties.

I'm So Happy for Derrick Lewis

In a huge week of fight announcements and withdrawals, one that stood out to me was that Derrick Lewis got a long-awaited title shot against Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Truly, this is such a Derrick Lewis way to get a shot, and we will explain why, but I just want to say that Derrick Lewis is getting what he deserves.

Storylines: UFC 229

Happy Conor Week, friends. It is about time there is a UFC card and Conor McGregor is headlining. It is long overdue. Now, with that, he is not the sole story that is worth mentioning this weekend. Here, we are going to mention some other noteworthy storylines.

This is James Vick's Chance

This weekend, James Vick FINALLY has the chance to prove himself against an elite guy at 155 after a rather disappointing result against Beneil Dariush in 2016. "The Texecutioner" (an all-time good MMA name) is facing Justin Gaethje, and although he's on a two fight skid currently, he's a guy that will be around the top as long as he is in the organization.

Eddie Alvarez is Gambling with his Career

This weekend, the UFC is back in Canada, this time in Calgary and on big boy FOX. Something that isn’t being heavily discussed is the fact that Eddie Alvarez is on the last fight of his contract. He previously rejected a contract this year, saying the terms simply weren’t good enough for “The Underground King.” So this Saturday’s outcome is HUUUUGE for Alvarez, and more specifically, his pocket book.

Is this the end of Cowboy as we know him?

This weekend, the UFC invades Asia once again, this time in Singapore for a night of fights. Also, partially as a result of the massive time difference, the card is on Fight Pass and has a lot of garbage on it. It’s just the way it is. There are a couple bright spots, including the main event. That main event includes crowd-favorite UFC LEGEND (yeah, I said it) Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

Enter Greg Hardy

Yesterday, MMA did not take a break, as there was the season premeire of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series (wow that's a mouthful), where prospects fought in front of the boss in hopes of making it to the UFC. Well, two contracts were given. One of those contracts was that of the polarizing, controversial former NFL Pro-Bowler Greg Hardy, who took 57 seconds to dismantle his co-former NFL player opponent. So, like him or not, Greg Hardy is going to fight in the UFC (at some point).

Max "Blessed" Holloway: Next Champ-Champ?

So, good news and bad news. Starting with the bad news, Tony Ferguson is out. Again. That will be touched upon another time, but the good news is that Max "Blessed" Holloway has stepped up on 6 days notice and will fight Khabib for the Lightweight Championship to headline UFC 223. And let me tell you something, boys and girls, this is gonna be interesting.
